WINFIELD — Cowley College recognized 67 students for earning high school diplomas, technical certificates and academic honors during its Spring 2026 Adult Education and Career and Technical Education Recognition Ceremony at the Winfield Correctional Facility on June 29.
The ceremony celebrated students who completed educational milestones through Cowley College’s partnership with the Winfield Correctional Facility and the Kansas Department of Corrections.
Among the accomplishments were 13 students who earned high school diplomas, including two who also completed a technical certification.
Technical programs also produced 20 graduates with Technical A Certificates in Construction Trades, 17 graduates in Electromechanical Maintenance and 19 graduates in Welding Technology.
The college also recognized students for academic achievement. Twelve graduates earned Dean’s Honor Roll recognition with grade-point averages between 3.5 and 3.99 while completing at least 12 credit hours. Thirteen students earned President’s Honor Roll recognition by maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade-point average while completing at least 12 credit hours. Continue below ad.
One Adult Education student also received a Cowley College scholarship worth $250 per semester for up to four semesters. The scholarship is awarded based on outstanding test scores and can be applied toward post-secondary coursework at Cowley College.
“Cowley College takes pride in extending educational opportunities to incarcerated students in partnership with Winfield Correctional Facility and the Kansas Department of Corrections,” said Jared McGuire, correctional education program coordinator. “Such opportunities improve outcomes for students seeking to re-enter the workforce, as well as drive community engagement and reintegration upon release.”
College officials said the correctional education program is designed to help students earn credentials, develop career skills and prepare for successful re-entry into the workforce and their communities after release.
