2 people hospitalized following crash near Udall Monday afternoon

UDALL — Two people were injured Monday afternoon when their vehicle crashed after reports of reckless driving on K-15 Highway west of Udall, according to the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office.

Shortly before 3:40 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a report of a reckless driver heading east toward Udall. While units were en route, authorities received word that the vehicle had crashed near K-15 and 41st Road.

Deputies said the black 2019 BMW went off the roadway, struck a bridge, then veered north into a ditch. Both airbags deployed.

Udall Police Chief Eric King arrived first and reported both occupants were alive. Udall Fire Department crews, along with Winfield Fire/EMS, also responded. Sheriff’s deputies completed the accident investigation at the scene.

The driver, 52-year-old Casey Liska of Wichita, was transported to Wesley ER in Derby for injuries. A passenger, 39-year-old Sara Peckham of Winfield, was taken to William Newton Hospital. The extent of their injuries was not immediately available.

Deputies said drugs, drug paraphernalia, and alcohol were found inside the vehicle. The case remains under investigation.
