An Ark City man was arrested and jailed Friday night after allegedly attacking — and attempting to bite — officers following a domestic disturbance call involving a possible stabbing.
Jermiah Hunter, 19, was booked into the Cowley County Jail on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault (two counts), aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, battery on Law enforcement officer (four counts), obstruction to law enforcement, minor in consumption of alcohol, and domestic battery.
His bond at the time of the news release was listed at $53,800.
According to a news release from the Ark City Police Department Monday, ACPD officers, along with Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputies, were dispatched to 801 S. Summit Street Apt. 2 Friday night just before 11 p.m. for a report of a disturbance possibly involving a stabbing.
Upon officer’s arrival, they were directed upstairs, where it was reported that a juvenile female was being battered. Officers went up the stairs to the apartment in question, and a juvenile female exited the residence. The suspect was given verbal commands to exit the residence.
Hunter exited the residence.
When officers tried to place Hunter into custody, it was reported that he resisted arrest by striking and attempting to bite several officers.
It was later learned that one of the reporting parties had tried to stop a fight between Hunter and his juvenile girlfriend. In doing so, the reporting party received a laceration to his hand. It was also learned while officers were on scene that Hunter had threatened to kill several individuals, including law enforcement.
The wounded victim and officers were treated at the scene and released. One officer received further treatment for a minor injury at SCK Health but was released later that night.
