ACPD arrests two in battery case


The Ark City Police Department made arrests in a battery case.

According to a new news release from the ACPD Wednesday, officers responded to a battery report in the 1500 Block of N. 15th St. early Sunday morning.

The victim, a 31-year-old female resident of Ark City, reported being a victim of battery. Upon arrival, officers initiated a thorough investigation that led to the identification of two suspects.

Later that day, at approximately 4:41 p.m., officers were actively pursuing the suspects and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation. Chance Jackson, 31, Ark City, was found to be a passenger in the vehicle and was taken into custody in connection with the ongoing investigation.

Later that evening, in collaboration with the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office, the second suspect, Cheyenne Porter, 28, also of Ark City, was located at an address in rural Cowley County. Porter was also arrested in connection with the battery case.

As of Wednesday, both suspects remain in custody of the Cowley County Jail and are held bonds of $50,000 each.
