The Arkansas City Police Department recently concluded its participation in the Thanksgiving Safe Arrival traffic enforcement campaign, focusing on ensuring safety and compliance with Kansas traffic laws during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
From the days before Thanksgiving through the holiday weekend, officers conducted overtime patrols to aggressively target unrestrained drivers and other traffic law violations.
During the campaign, officers issued:
• 3 adult/teen safety belt citations
• 1 DUI/DUID arrest
• 6 speeding citations
• 56 other citations and arrests
Officers made 42 enforcement stops in total, emphasizing the importance of seatbelt use, safe driving behaviors, and adherence to traffic laws.
“Our goal is always to ensure that everyone on our roads is as safe as possible,” said Chief Jim Holloway. “Please buckle up—not just for yourself, but for your family, friends, and others who care about your safety.”
Although the Thanksgiving campaign has concluded, the Arkansas City Police Department remains committed to vigilantly enforcing Kansas traffic safety laws.
The Thanksgiving Safe Arrival traffic enforcement campaign was supported by a Kansas Department of Transportation.
