The City of Arkansas City has officially brought Water Well No. 16 online, completing a major infrastructure project aimed at strengthening the community’s water system and ensuring long-term reliability, according to a written media release.
Construction on the new well began in December 2024 and replaces an older well that has since been decommissioned and dismantled. City officials said the project is part of ongoing efforts to modernize Arkansas City’s municipal water infrastructure and improve water service for residents and businesses.
Before being placed into service, Well No. 16 underwent extensive water quality testing to ensure it met all required safety and quality standards.
“This project represents an important investment in the future of Arkansas City’s water system,” City Manager Randy Frazer said. “Reliable infrastructure is something many people never think about until there’s a problem. Projects like Well No. 16 help ensure we continue providing dependable, safe drinking water to our community for years to come.” Continue below ad.
The project aligns with goals outlined in the City’s Drinking Water System Improvement Master Plan, unveiled in October 2024.
Developed in partnership with Professional Engineering Consultants, the plan was created to address aging infrastructure, improve operational efficiency and prioritize water system upgrades over the next 20 years.
City officials said the master plan serves as a roadmap for future improvements designed to strengthen system reliability and support continued growth in Arkansas City.
