Ark City community survey reveals emphasis on infrastructure, childcare and youth-related programs

A recent Ark City community survey revealed local residents want an increased emphasis on infrastructure maintenance, childcare and early childhood programs, youth-related activities and more.

“If you strengthen families you will strengthen the community,” was a comment the City of Ark City says was made on a survey issued by a group of community organizations to better understand what local residents need and want from the community.

The survey, which was conducted in March, revealed several areas of interest within the community, according to a news release Monday from the city office.

Now, the group seeks additional input to help further define those areas.

“The feedback was very useful for helping us find some common ground,” City Manager Randy Frazer said. “We now know there are several areas of focus that many of our residents can agree on.”

Frazer said other areas of high interest include fitness and aquatic centers.

“We appreciate everyone who has provided input so far, it will help us make informed decisions in the future,” Frazer said. “Now, we’re asking everyone to take a few moments to complete a second survey. This survey will help us understand what about each of those interest areas is most important to our community.”

The survey is currently live and will remain open through Friday, May 19.

The survey is available in English and Spanish and the links can be found at

Community members without internet access can stop by City Hall or the Ark City Rec Center to fill out a paper copy of the survey, the City says.
