A 40-year-old woman was hospitalized late Sunday, and a suspect from Ark City is in custody, following a stabbing investigation by local police.
54-year-old Sean Michael Boydston was arrested inside a residence nearby where the incident is said to have occurred in the 1200 block West Oklahoma. He remained in the Cowley County Jail Monday with bond set at $100,000.
Boydston was booked into jail on charges of attempted second-degree murder and domestic battery.
Around 10:20 p.m., police and emergency medical crews were called to the address on Oklahoma for the report of a physical disturbance.
While en route, officers were informed that the incident involved a stabbing.
Police arrived to find a woman who had sustained multiple stab wounds, including injuries to her neck. She received immediate treatment at the scene before being transported to SCK Medical Center. She was subsequently airlifted to a Wichita medical facility for further treatment and is currently reported to be in stable condition.
Boydston was developed as a suspect and arrested nearby.

State corrections records, available online, show that Boydston is a previously convicted felony sex offender.
In 2001, he was convicted of sex crimes involving a victim under 14 in Reno County. He spend more than 17 years in prison and post release supervision period end in April 2024.
Boydston is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. He was currently living at 1201 W. Oklahoma, according to publicly available registration records.
