Arkansas City High School Principal Jeremy Truelove has submitted a letter of resignation, effective following this current school year.

According to USD 470 Director of Communications Alisha Call, Truelove has worked for the school district since 2007 and started out as a high school social studies teacher before becoming assistant principal and, ultimately, head principal of ACHS in 2018.

“We appreciate Mr. Truelove’s dedication to students over the years and wish him nothing but the best as he explores new career opportunities,” the district said. “Change is rarely easy, but we are hopeful that we will find the right person to take the lead at the high school following his departure.”

Monday Truelove informed staff of his resignation.

“Team, as you may have heard, I made the difficult decision to resign as principal of Ark City High School effective after this school year,” Truelove’s email read. “Please know my decision to step away was not made lightly. Ark City is our home and the people here are second to none. I have loved my time at ACHS but feel like the time is right to pursue other professional opportunities.

“I want to thank you for your encouragement and support over the years. I will continue to serve the staff and scholars at ACHS with great pride for the remainder of my time here. Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog.”
