Ark City man arrested on drug, gun charges early Friday morning following traffic stop

An Ark City resident was arrested early Friday morning on drug and gun charges following a traffic stop, according to a news release from the Ark City Police Department.

Shortly after midnight Friday, officers conducted a traffic stop for a white Honda Accord in the 1300 block of South Summit. ACPD Chief Eric Burr told Cowley Post the traffic stop was for a headlight that was out.

Upon contact with the driver, 28-year-old Sean Nally, officers noticed a strong odor of marijuana.

A subsequent search led to officers discovering a sizeable amount of marijuana inside the vehicle. A further investigation of the vehicle by officers revealed paraphernalia commonly used to facilitate drug sales and a Glock handgun.

Officer’s searched Nally’s clothing when placing him under arrest. Drug paraphernalia and more than 100 grams of methamphetamine were found concealed in his clothing.

Nally was transported to the Cowley County Jail for possession with the intent to sell marijuana, possession with the intent to sell methamphetamine, possession of drug sales paraphernalia, possession of drug use paraphernalia, no drug tax stamp, and for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Nally’s bond was set at $27,000.
