An Ark City man was arrested after allegedly attempting to conceal drug evidence from police.
According to a news release Tuesday afternoon from the Ark City Police Department, an ACPD officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop Monday at 12:41 p.m. in the 600 block of South 6th Street.
While attempting to stop the car, the driver parked at a vacant house and left his vehicle on foot.
He began walking when officers located him.
Jose Alberto Martinez, 38, was found to have a suspended Kansas driver’s license and an active probation violation warrant through Winfield District Court. Martinez attempted to conceal drug evidence from officers when they contacted him.
As a result of the investigation, Martinez was found to have suspected illegal substances and drug paraphernalia and was taken to the Cowley County jail on the charges of a probation violation, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing a law enforcement officer, driving on a suspended license, third offense, and circumventing an Ignition Interlock Device.
No bond is set for Martinez due to the probation violation warrant.
