Ark City Man Arrested Tuesday Night Following Burglary Report

An Ark City man was arrested Tuesday following the report of a possible burglary in progress.

According to a news release from the Ark City Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of S. 6th Street at 5:49 p.m. Tuesday for the report of a  possible burglary in progress. Officers responded to the home and found it secure from the outside.

Officers guarded the house’s perimeter while arrangements were made to contact the property owner, the ACPD said.

The owner arrived and gave access to the home, at which time officers began a search.

Samuel Corza-Carrera, 29, of Arkansas City, was in the home and taken into custody. Corza-Carrera was found to have an active warrant for his arrest through Cowley County District Court for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Corza-Carrera was transported to the Cowley County jail with additional charges of burglary, attempted theft, felony obstruct law enforcement officer and abuse of toxic vapors.

Bond was set at $21,000.
