An Ark City man was found Saturday afternoon with a gunshot wound to his leg after an attempt to clean his firearm, according to a news release from the Ark City Police Department Monday morning.
Police and EMS were called to the 500 block of N. 3rd Street Saturday at 1:31 p.m. for a report of a person with a gunshot wound to the leg. Officers located a 21-year-old Ark City man with a bullet wound to his left leg. The man, who was not identified, reported that he was getting ready to clean the gun and that the firearm discharged one time into his leg.
Officers processed the scene and the man was transported by ambulance to SCK Medical Center but was later transferred to a Wichita hospital for further treatment. The man has since been released from the hospital.
