The Arkansas City Police Department is ramping up traffic-law enforcement efforts as part of the national Click It or Ticket campaign, with the goal of emphasizing the importance of seat belt use for adults and children alike.

From now, until June 2, ACPD officers will intensify their focus on seat belts, child safety seat compliance, and other traffic laws. The national campaign, established in the 1990s, coincides with the Memorial Day holiday.

The goal is to reduce fatalities and injuries by ensuring that all drivers and passengers are properly restrained every time they travel on our roads.

“Your seat belt could be what saves you and those riding with you. Insist that everyone in the vehicle is restrained on every trip,” ACPD Chief Jim Holloway said. “In the interest of saving lives, the Arkansas City Police Department is committed to ticketing and educating violators of adult seat belt and child safety laws, as well as other traffic infractions. We want you to be as safe as possible on your travels.”

The Arkansas City Police Department urges everyone to buckle up and ensure children are properly secured in appropriate safety seats.
