The Arkansas City Police Department will be actively participating in the You Drink. You Drive. You Lose. campaign from this Saturday through Labor Day, Sept. 2.

This statewide initiative, conducted in partnership with other law enforcement agencies across Kansas, aims to remove impaired drivers from the roadways and reduce the risk of DUI-related incidents.

“Alcohol is often the first substance people think of when it comes to impaired driving, but illegal recreational drugs, such as marijuana, pose just as much danger,” said Chief Jim Holloway. “Whether you’re driving drunk or high, the consequences remain severe.”

Those convicted of impaired driving will face substantial penalties, including hefty fines, significant financial repercussions, and potential jail time. Continue story below ads.

“We want to urge everyone to take responsibility for their actions,” Chief Holloway continued. “Designate a sober driver, or simply stay home. The alternative could be starting each day with the memory of a choice that resulted in injury or even death.”

The You Drink. You Drive. You Lose. enforcement campaign reminds all drivers to make the right choice and find a designated driver. Safety on the roads is a responsibility that every driver must take seriously, officials said.
