Ark City and Winfield will be well-represented at state wrestling this weekend.
The Bulldogs, the 5A regional host this past weekend, will send eight to the state tournament — including 5A regional champion Kolby Quint at 113 pounds. Quint, a sophomore goes from the Dawg Pound to Hartman Arena in Wichita this weekend with a 34-11 record.
Winfield sophomore Abby Brenn goes to the Tony’s Pizza Events Center in Salina as a regional champion with a 30-1 record.
Carlos Leyva, a junior at 120 pounds for Ark City, finished third at regionals.
Sophomore Talea Viegra, who finished fourth at regionals. will represent Ark City in the girls state wrestling tournament in Wichita.
Winfield is sending six boys and two more girls to 4A state.
The Vikings boys featured three runner-up and two third-place finishes at regionals.
Junior Zane Swinford finished third at regionals at 144 pounds.
Fellow junior Mack Morin was a runner-up in the 190-pound weight class and Talon Suttles, another fellow junior, was regional runner-up at 126.
