Wednesday night is one Audrianna Bruce describes as a “terrible night” at her residence at 2nd and Kansas in Ark City.

There she was, around 9:45 p.m., in her own home, minding her own business, when an SUV smacked into the front of the house. Thursday night she told Cowley Post that she was just two feet or so from where the impact occurred.

She was still feeling sore and her ears were ringing as she retold her story. The chaos of that night and flood of information circulating about the crash – from social media, the police and lookie loos – has left her feeling frazzled.

The driver of the SUV 22-year-old Anthony Perez-Hernandez, was booked into the Cowley County Jail for DUI, no proof of insurance, transporting an open container, and reckless driving. He has since posted bond of $750 and been released.

“We will most likely have to pay for this out of our pocket,” Bruce said, referencing the fact that no proof of insurance was found.

In a written statement, police said Perez-Hernandez had driven past a stop sign and into the home. Bruce thinks the vehicle was going at least 40 miles-per-hour at the time of the collision and caused substantial damage to the house.

Ark City Fire-EMS made an assessment that night as to the structural integrity of the home. No injuries were reported, accord to a written statement from police. (Continue story below ads.)

A passenger in the vehicle, Pedro Marcos Pascual, was found in possession of an open container and was cited and released.

Bruce remains upset about the entire ordeal and said she felt at times like she was ignored and made to stand off to the side as an investigation was conducted.

“I hope that the people who did this have a huge realization of what they did and not get a slap on the wrist,” she said.
