Tim Porter will be the principal at Ark City High School next year. He begins in that role effective July 1, according to a statement from USD 470.
Porter has been serving as an assistant principal at the high school. He has 26 years experience in education with 13 of those in educational leadership.
Before becoming an assistant principal at ACHS, he taught at Ark City Middle School and was an assistant principal in Derby.
“Mr. Porter’s extensive educational background and strong connection to our Bulldog community are valuable assets for ACHS,” said Superintendent Dr. Ron Ballard. “We look forward to his contributions and their impact on school success.”
Porter, a proud Ark City Public Schools alum, expressed his enthusiasm for serving ACHS as head principal.
“I am honored and excited to serve my alma mater as principal, Porter said. “Arkansas City has a rich history of academic excellence, with generations of dedicated school staff and community members who help students reach their highest potential.”
Porter emphasized that ensuring students have the necessary resources and experiences for a successful future will be a top priority in the upcoming school year.
“I believe our team can work together to continue its path of excellence, implement innovative ideas to stimulate continuous instructional improvement, and facilitate a safe and effective environment where every student can attain greater academic achievement and growth,” he said.
The district is working to find a high-quality assistant principal to join Porter and Adam Dorsey. Dorsey, who has served with the district for 13 years, has been appointed as an ACHS assistant principal for the upcoming school year.
