MANHATTAN, Kan. — More than 220 high school students from across Kansas participated in the 2025 session of the American Legion Boys State of Kansas, held June 1-7 at Kansas State University in Manhattan.
Conner Harris, a senior at Arkansas City High School, was awarded the $1,000 American Legion Boys State of Kansas Executive Director Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes a delegate who demonstrates an exceptional understanding of the program’s principles and a commitment to applying leadership skills in school and community life.
This was the 87th overall session of Kansas Boys State and the 33rd consecutive year the program has been held at K-State.
Boys State is designed as a “learning by doing” political exercise. Delegates simulate elections, form political parties and operate state, county and local governments. The program emphasizes teamwork, civic responsibility, leadership under pressure and respect for democracy.
