The Winfield Police Department in association with several local agencies will be hosting Community Night Out in Island Park Friday night.

“Every year, it seems like we’re adding more community partners, and that’s no different this year,” Winfield Police Chief Robbie DeLong told Bob FM/KSOK Wednesday morning. ”

This year will feature grilled hot dogs, chips and a drink at no cost and will go from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

DeLong said its an opportunity for the WPD and other area public safety agencies and organizations to say thanks to citizens.

“We couldn’t do our job effectively at all if it wasn’t for the community at large,” DeLong said. “That’s who we serve and that’s truly where so much of that collaboration comes is the trust they have in us to do the work, and really, this is a night where we can all just come together as a community and enjoy each other’s company.”

More information on the event is available via the WPD’s Facebook page.
