The Southwestern College men’s basketball team was selected to its third-straight and 14th overall NAIA Tournament Thursday night.
The Moundbuilders (24-5) will face Ave Maria University next Friday. SC will return to Langston, Oklahoma, for the second consecutive year to play its first round game.
The winner will face the winner of pod-host Langston University and Bellevue (15-15). Langston (30-1) is a No. 1 seed and defeated Southwestern in the second round last year.
It’s just the second NAIA Tournament appearance ever for Ave Maria. The Gyrenes, based out of Ave Maria, Florida, made their first tourney appearance in 2019 — against Southwestern.
The Builders beat AMU 89-80 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The round of 16 for the NAIA Tournament will be played in Kansas City for all teams.
