The Winfield boys, coming off a dramatic 56-55 win on Monday night at Coffeyville, zipped out to a 19-2 lead and took a 24-13 lead into the halftime break. Circle battled back to within three after a 12-4 third quarter putting Winfield on their heels.

However, Winfield answered back with an 18-12 advantage in the fourth, propelling them to a 46-37 victory. After not beating Circle at home since 2015, Winfield has now defeated the T-Birds in back-to-back seasons. Winfield freshman Le’Gend Riley had 16 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocked shots. Senior Evan Hutto struggled from the field (2-12) but still managed 10 points.

In the girls game, Winfield trailed 11-8 after the first quarter and only managed two second quarter points as they fell behind 21-10 at halftime.  Circle was able to stretch their lead to 13 early in the second half before the Vikings got off the mat. After an 11-7 3rd quarter for Winfield, the Vikings fought their way back to just one point down at 33-32 late in the 4th quarter.

Circle standout Katelyn Vogts buried a three-pointer and helped carry the T-Birds to a hard fought 37-33 victory. The free-throw line haunted Winfield as they were just 10-23 at the stripe. Vogts finished the game with 12 points, including three 3-pointers. For Winfield, sophomore Paisley Curtis led the team in scoring with 11 points, while fellow sophomore Ansley McCaslin had 10.

The Winfield girls are now 1-5, the boys are 4-2, and both teams will play their final games of 2025 on Friday night as they welcome Augusta to town. Games are at 6 and 7:45 and can be heard on 95.9 FM.
