Wellington Police arrested two people Sunday that are suspects in a recent Texas murder investigation.

Eli Gaibeth Martinez Sanchez, 23, of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Deja Shanta Burt Roberts, 24, Fort Worth, Texas, are currently being held in the Sumner County Jail without bond. They are suspects in the shooting death of 30-year-old Eric Martiz Hill Jr. Thursday in an Aldi’s parking lot in Haltom City, located northeast of Fort Worth.

Wellington Police Chief Tracy Heath told Sumner NewsCow that on Sunday morning around 11:45 a.m., Sanchez and Roberts were driving southbound on U.S. 81 when a Flock camera system detected a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee the pair were driving. Flock is an AI-powered camera system that’s meant to deter crime by locating vehicles using license plate information.

A couple of miles later, Wellington Police stopped the vehicle before the suspects left the south city limits on 81. They remained in custody as of Tuesday evening, according to jail records.

Texas authorities had requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force in the case, before their apprehension in Wellington.
