A summer camp for kids four- to 14-years of age will return to the Winfield Fairgrounds in mid June.
Camp Like Max is a three-day event meant to help build leadership, confidence, character and friendship for area youth. The camp honors the memory of Max Henderson who died in 2019 in a horseback riding accident near Winfield.
Campers are divided into groups to attend age appropriate workshops. Sign up deadline is today, Friday, May 17. Roughly 15 to 20 spots remain open and some scholarships are available.
June 14 will feature opening ceremonies and other kick-off events. Camp sessions run from 9 to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on June 15, and worship, performance and a camp tour/project collection are June 16.
Rodeo, leather working, jewelry making, outdoor sports and performing arts are among the skills taught at the camp. Children pre-K to 8th grade are welcome to attend.
Registration is $125 for the first camper and $50 for an additional sibling. On-site camping is available at the Winfield Fairgrounds.
