Pete Rowley has been named Winfield’s new fire marshal.
Rowley, who was recently promoted to captain/EMT, had his latest promotion announced Monday. He has been with the Winfield Fire/EMS Dept. since 2008.
A fire marshal’s duties include investigating fires and determining their causes. They can conduct criminal investigations when arson is suspected.
Rowley replaces Chad Mayberry, who was with the department for more than 20 years. Mayberry is now the fire chief for the city of McPherson.
Mayberry departed in April.
