One person sustained minor injuries this morning following a collision between a car and semi on U.S. 160 highway near Oxford, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Around 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, 75-year-old Doai Van Do, of Wichita, was eastbound on 160 when he attempted to make a U-turn in the roadway. A trailing 2015 Freightliner semi made an avoidance maneuver, but was unable to keep from striking Do’s 2022 Toyota Avalon.
68-year-old Gary W. Bega, Rago, Kan., was eastbound in the semi, which struck the Avalon on the driver’s side. The vehicles came to rest in the roadway.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Bega was uninjured and Do was transported to a Wichita hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The accident occurred in the 1000 block of 160 east of Oxford.
Traffic was detoured for more than an hour as the scene was processed and investigated.
