A Bar-B-Q cook-off, Dutch oven cooking, vendors, car racing, and history! Charlie Adams Day in Newkirk is a staple of north central Oklahoma, celebrating the life and legacy of Charlie Francis Adams and his award-winning horse Good Luck! This event takes place on the second Saturday of September and the date for 2022 has been set for September 10th. There’s so much fun to be had by everyone in the family at the Charlie Adam’s Day festival!
Story-telling Events:
The story-telling event is taking place on the west side of the Newkirk Public Library starting at 10:30 a.m. Sponsored by the Newkirk Community Historical Society. The schedule is as follows:
10:30 a.m. Sheriff Harsh with the story of the petrified man portrayed by Tim Henson
10:50 a.m. Lucy Davis, making “The Run” with a friend & a baby portrayed by Kim Shanks

Children’s Events:
There will be a children’s area set up at the festival, with free games and an inflatable obstacle course! There are two children’s events taking place:
10 a.m. Money in the Haystack, sponsored by Equity Bank
10:30 & 10:45 a.m. Turtle Races, sponsored by K&C Manufacturing (Land Tortoises only)
Cruisin for Charlie Poker Run:
An all wheels Poker event, registration is in front of the Char Ron lounge from 12:30-2. The registration cost is $15 and the first bike goes out at 1:30 p.m.
Show & Shine Car Show:
From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m, visit the area on Maple from 8th to 9th street, and check out the cars or enter for the chance to win. There’s automotive, motorcycle, and open-class categories, with trophies for the top 3 and a cash prize for first place!
Food:
Tasting kits will go on sale at the festival at 11:30 a.m, and serving begins at noon! Each tasting kit is $10. Tasting will continue until all of the food is gone! Hot dogs, hamburgers, homemade ice cream, sodas and water will all be available to purchase as well.
