Island Park should be partially reopened by Thursday’s Duck Jam in the Park concert, according to the City of Winfield.

“Island Park has sustained considerable tree damage and we are scheduling some large equipment to assist in the debris removal our crews/equipment can’t address,” the City said in a Facebook post Friday afternoon.

Monday morning Winfield City Manager Taggart Wall told Cowley Post the plan is to fully reopen the entire park to the public by Friday.

Thursday night’s Duck Jam concert features Good Morning Bedlam and Pretend Friend. The concerts are free to the public and begin at 7.

The Duck Jam season will close on Sept. 28 with Mountain Deer Revival and the Grody Riggins Band.

The Aug. 6 storm produced straight-line winds of 80 mph just around 6 a.m. and damaged several campers at the Winfield Fairgrounds during the Cowley County Fair. The storm also blew over the Ferris wheel at the fair.
