Cowley College is hosting several Veterans Day activities today and this weekend.
“Cowley College is proud to announce the upcoming Veterans Appreciation Week, dedicated to honoring and celebrating our nation’s veterans for their selfless service and dedication to our country,” a press release from the college said. “This week-long event will take place from November 10th through November 15th and will feature a series of activities and programs that pay tribute to our veterans, offering them the recognition and support they truly deserve.”
The events planned are designed to create a positive and inclusive atmosphere where veterans, their families, and the general public can be celebrated as part of Veteran’s Day, the college added.
Some of the highlights of Veterans Appreciation Week at Cowley College include:
- Military Appreciation Luncheon: Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in The McAtee Dining Hall or the Sumner Campus Tiger Eatery as we welcome veterans, service members, and families for a free meal.
- Veteran’s Day Parade: Enjoy the patriotic sounds of the Cowley Band as they and other groups participate in the parade on Veteran’s Day, Saturday on Summit Street in Ark City.
- Josh Gracin – Veterans Day Concert: Cowley Representatives will be onsite during this concert at 6:30 p.m. at the Wellington Memorial Auditorium with information about education veterans support services and benefits offered at Cowley College.
- Veteran’s Appreciation & Patriotic Night Theme Basketball Games: A great opportunity for veterans, service members, and family to connect with each other and enjoy two basketball games free of charge on Wednesday; 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. tip-offs.
- Employee & Family Tribute: Cowley Employees and family members will be honored on Veteran’s Day in a special video/picture tribute.
“Veterans Appreciation Week is a time for us to recognize the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of our veterans,” Andy Bohn, Cowley Military Representative, said. “It’s a privilege to work with these remarkable individuals at Cowley College, and I’m excited to be a part of this week’s events.
