A dozen motor vehicle accidents involving deer were reported to the Cowley County Sheriff’s Dept. over the weekend, according to reports released Monday.
The month of November is considered to be the height of the deer rutting season. Accidents were mostly on the county’s major highways, including K-15, U.S. 160, 166 and 77.
Four of six accidents Friday occurred between 6 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. and the other two that day occurred between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Three accidents on Saturday occurred between 6 p.m. and 10:45 p.m.
Another three deer strikes occurred Sunday. One of them in the morning around 6:45 a.m. and two more between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
