Counting is still hours away, but Cowley County Election chief Karen Madison reports that activity at the polls today has been “very steady.”
She estimated that as of 1 p.m., about 3,000 people had cast their vote. Judges check in with Madison regularly and she said no long lines had been reported at polling places.
Updated early voting numbers show that 6,595 people voted early in Cowley County and 1,100 mail-in ballots had been logged. That puts voter turnout at 37 percent, Madison said, when only considering activity prior to election day.
She reminds anyone still needing to vote to make sure they have their photo ID with them. (Continue story below ad.)
You can call the county clerk’s office at (620) 221-5494 with questions or if you are unsure of where to vote.
Polls close at 7 p.m.
