With the start of the spring semester, Cowley College recently announced its November and December Athletes of the Month.
The November Male Athlete of the Month is freshman wrestler Evan Rodriguez, while the November Female Athlete of the Month is sophomore Sara Puskus.
The December Male Athlete of the Month is baseball sophomore Cade Baldridge, and the December Female Athlete of the Month is basketball and softball player Jamie Molina.
Rodriguez is the top-ranked wrestler in the NJCAA at 141 pounds. The welding major has a 2.94-grade point average and is receiving scholarship offers from several NCAA Division schools.
Puskus is a member of the Lady Tiger volleyball team that has won 81 matches in a row and back-to-back national championships. She finished fourth in the KJCCC in kills with 408 kills and, third in the KJCCC in kills per set (3.34), and third in hitting percentage (.341). In her career, she recorded 799 kills, 89 aces, 257 digs, 105 blocks, and a hitting percentage of .355. Her 799 career kills place her 10th in Cowley volleyball history in total career kills.
Puskas has been named a NJCAA Division II Third Team All-American, NJCAA All-Tournament Team, First Team All-District, KJCCC First Team All-Conference, and was named to the Cowley College Invitational All-Tournament Team. She has been named to the Cowley College Dean’s List and to the NJCAA and KJCCC All-Academic teams. The business administration major has a GPA of 3.92. Continue story below ad.
Baldridge is a returning all-conference member and Gold Glove recipient of the Tiger baseball team, who has signed early with the University of Kansas. Baldridge batted .338 with five home runs and 50 runs batted in as a freshman. The business administration major has a GPA of 3.79.
Molina is a multi-sport athlete at Cowley and a returning Second Team all-conference softball selection who batted .364 with eight home runs, 20 doubles, and 59 runs batted in.
As a member of the Lady Tiger basketball team, she is averaging 14.4 points per game with a team-leading 34 three-pointers. The sports management major has a GPA of 3.60. Pictured from left to right, Molina, Baldridge, Puskas and
