UPDATED: 2:54 p.m.
The individual found deceased Wednesday morning following a house fire in Winfield was an elderly man.
Winfield Fire Marshal Chad Mayberry told KSOK/Bob FM Wednesday afternoon a dog was also found deceased.
“No foul play is suspected,” Mayberry said.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
The name of the man will not be released by authorities until the completion of an autopsy, Mayberry said.

A person was found deceased Wednesday morning following a structure fire in the 100 block of North Minnesota in Winfield.
According to a joint news release from the Winfield Police Department and Winfield Fire/EMS, firefighters and police officers were dispatched for a report of a structure fire at approximately 8:20 a.m.
Initial information was obtained during the response that there was at least one individual inside the structure.
Members from Winfield Fire/EMS, Arkansas City Fire/EMS, Udall Fire Depeartment, and the Burden Fire Department worked to extinguish the fire. However one individual was located inside the structure deceased.
“This is an active investigation between the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office, Winfield Fire/EMS, and the Winfield Police Department,” the news release stated. “The identity of the deceased individual has not been released pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
“More information will be released at a later time.”
Winfield Fire/EMS and the Winfield Police Department were also assisted during this incident by members of the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office. More information will be released at a later time.
