It’s a rare Friday night for the Cowley County Fair in Winfield.
It’s not often the fair has a concert for the grandstands, but tonight’s concert features a first for the fair — a beer garden.
Wednesday night fair officials told media a Friday night concert with a beer garden has often been discussed, but this year is the first time there was enough consensus among the fair board to green light it.
The gate opens at 6 p.m. Caroline Grace will take the stage at 7 p.m. followed by Red Dirt staples Jason Boland & The Stragglers and Stoney LaRue.
According to fair officials, the combined act cost the fair $40,000.
The beer garden area is for 21 and older and the fair says there will be no chairs set up in the beer garden and advise beer garden goers to bring their own. The VIP areas in the beer garden and grandstands are for concert sponsors only, who already have a golden VIP ticket. Gypsybevco will be serving ice cold beverages in the beer garden. No outside alcohol is allowed.
“Thanks again to Ark Valley Distributing Inc for being the concert presenting sponsor,” the fair posted on its Facebook page. “If you see any posts of people trying to sell tickets online, it’s probably a scam. Only purchase tickets from our secured vendor eTix or in person.”
