Winfield Fire Marshal Chad Mayberry says three structure fires in Winfield that span from Oct. 12 to Nov. 16 were intentionally set.
According to a news release from Mayberry Monday, the Winfield Fire/EMS Department responded to three reported structure fires in the area of the 400 block of West 14th Avenue in the past several weeks.
The first fire occurred at approximately 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12. This fire was at 411 W. 14th and the fire damage was contained to a sleeper cab from a semi-truck that had been converted into a small storage shed.
The second fire occurred on Sunday, Nov. 13, at approximately 3:30 a.m. Mayberry says the blaze started in a small storage shed that was next to the house and extended into the vacant house.
The house had significant fire damage and is considered a total loss.
Last week, a third fire occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A small storage shed behind the residence had significant damage from the fire and is considered a total loss.
Mayberry says an investigation into these incidents is ongoing.
“We request that anyone with any information or photographs of these fires contact the Winfield Fire/EMS Department Fire Marshal’s Office 620-221- 5560 or the Winfield Police Department 620-221-5556,” Mayberry said.
