Fire Weather Watch Issued For The Region; Wind Gusts Of 50-60 MPH Expected Friday

Cowley County Emergency Management asks residents to be vigilant as a Fire Weather Watch continues throughout the week for the region.

The Fire Weather Watch is expected to expire by Friday at 9 p.m.

The Kansas Forest Service on Tuesday released a video urging anyone burning to keep checking any brush piles.

There will be a burn ban for the month of April in Cowley County as part of the Kansas Flint Hills Smoke Management Plan.

According to the Winfield Fire Department, restricted activities will include burning trees and brush from land clearing, crop residues, construction debris and yard waste.
