Five Arkansas City High School seniors took part in Kansas Boys State and Girls State this summer, gaining hands-on experience in government, leadership and civic responsibility.
Ark City participants included Mykaylee Goff, Swea Gootee, Kennedy Barnes and Genevieve, who attended Sunflower Girls State, and Conner Harris, who attended Boys State.
The programs, held annually, bring together high school juniors from across Kansas to form mock governments, run campaigns, and learn more about civic engagement.
