An attempt to set a Guinness World Record – that’s set to begin in Ark City Saturday – will be recognized by city commissioners at a special meeting.
A proclamation for Warren Edwards will be presented just a day before he is to begin his 50 States in 50 Days challenge. That presentation will happen at noon Friday at city hall, 118 W. Central Ave.
Edwards is set to begin his journey on Saturday at 10 a.m. with a ride from Veterans Park to Paris Park. At 11:30 a.m., he will have a Kansas tattoo done at Skinsations. Edwards will eat a bacon cheeseburger at Burger Junkie at noon.
At 1 p.m. Edwards will do 50 push ups at Ben Cleveland Wellness Center on the campus of Cowley College. The day concludes at 2 p.m. when the public can join Edwards at the Burford Theatre breezeway for a shake.
All activities that day are open to the public.
Edwards will then drive to Missouri for the second state in his trip. In each state his plan is to jog and walk 13.1 miles and bike for 36.9 miles, do 50 push ups, eat a bacon cheeseburger, drink a strawberry shake and get a tattoo to mark the moment.
Said local officials in a statement: “This event in Ark City would not be possible without the outstanding support of the Arkansas City Area Chamber of Commerce, VISIT Arkansas City, Merchants in Motion, the Burford Theatre, Skinstations Tattoo & Body Piercing, Burger Junkie, Cowley College, the City of Arkansas City, various community members, and of course the dedication of Edwards himself, whose contributions have helped make the start of this incredible journey a reality.”
