The Kansas Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate a vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash last week.
Around 5:35 p.m. Friday, a highway patrol trooper initiated a traffic stop with a Cadillac passenger vehicle on U.S. 77 highway. The Cowley County Sheriff’s Dept. assisted at 82nd Rd. and 77 north of Winfield.
The initial stop was due to speeding and improper passing of another vehicle. The Cadillac failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. About 5:40 p.m., the trooper advised he lost sight of the vehicle on 151st Rd. northbound from 32nd.
At 5:43 p.m., the vehicle was located in the northwest corner of 52nd Rd and 151st Rd. Two occupants had already fled the vehicle on foot.
Multiple Troopers and the Cowley County Sheriff’s office assisted in setting up a perimeter and searching for the suspects. The suspects were not located and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
