KDHE says Posey Creek near Strother Field is safe and no longer in need of stream advisory

A stream advisory – put in place earlier this year by the Kansas Dept. of Health and Environment – has been lifted for Posey Creek near Strother Field.

The advisory was put in place Feb. 27 due to operational problems at the wastewater treatment plant that serves Strother Field Industrial Park. That industrial park is located near the midway point between Winfield and Ark City. (Continue story below ads.)

Water sampling now indicates that bacterial and contaminant levels are now within normal range, according to a statement released by KDHE Thursday.

Posey Creek has been deemed safe for secondary contact – wading – and livestock use.
