The Kansas Department of Transportation approved bids for milling and overlay work on U.S. 160 in Cowley and Sumner counties.
According to a news release from KDOT Tuesday, the work will cover nearly 30 miles of highway, with the majority of it in Sumner County.
KDOT approved $6 million to APAC-Kansas Inc., Shears Division out of Hutchinson for the combined work. The contract totals about $1.57 million for the work in Cowley County and nearly $4.5 million for the Sumner County stretch of 160.
In Cowley County, the work will be on 7.6 miles of road from the Sumner/Cowley line east to the west city limits of Winfield. In Sumner, the the work will stretch 21.5 miles from the Sumner/Harper County line east to the west city limits of Wellington.
KDOT also approved a bid from Pearson Construction out of Wichita for just over $168K for milling and overlay work for just under a mile on U.S. 160 from the east edge wearing surface of the Arkansas River bridge east to the Sumner/Cowley County line.
