KDOT: U.S. 160 between Winfield and Oxford to be resurfaced soon

U.S. 160 between Oxford and Winfield will be resurfaced as part of a pair of state projects set to begin later this month.

That work is expected to begin sometime around Oct. 21 and be completed by Dec. 1.

Because the work to be done is in two counties, the Kansas Dept. of Transportation considers it to be two projects.

One of the Kansas Department of Transportation projects on U.S. 160, in Cowley County, will be from the Sumner/Cowley county line to the west city limits of Winfield, for a length of about seven-and-a-half miles.

The other KDOT project on U.S. 160, in Sumner County, will be from the east edge of the Arkansas River bridge east to the Sumner/Cowley county line, for almost three-quarters of a mile.

The roadway will undergo milling and hot-mix-asphalt overlay.

During the work, traffic will be restricted to one lane and controlled by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should be prepared to stop and expect delays of up to 15 minutes. (Continue story below ad.)

Pearson Construction, of Wichita, is the primary contractor for the $1,566,583 project in Cowley County and the $168,423 project in Sumner County.
