A Labor Day accident Monday afternoon near Udall was likely made less serious by evasive driving on the part of a California motorcyclist.

Around 2 p.m., a pair of motorcyclists were westbound on K-15 highway, about 3 miles east of Udall, when an eastbound truck entered their lane in an attempt to pass other vehicles.

34-year-old Timothy D. Green, of Fort Irwin, Calif., made an evasive maneuver on his 2019 Indian in an attempt to avoid the truck.

A 2023 Triumph motorcycle, ridden by 61-year-old Dareyl Stark, of Wichita, followed Green. Stark’s motorcycle struck Green’s in the back tire and that caused Stark to lay the motorcycle down. (Continue story below ads.)

Green was able to stay upright and brought his bike to a stop in the south ditch.

Stark was taken to the Robert J Dole VA Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Green was not hurt.

Both men were wearing helmets and visors. The accident was investigated by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
