A 21-year-old Ark City woman was killed Friday morning in a rollover accident south of Arkansas City on 61st Rd., according to the Cowley County Sheriff’s Dept.
Maleah Shae Archer was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, 30-year-old Andy Owen Minnie, also of Ark City, was removed from the vehicle by Ark City Fire and EMS.
He was transported by air ambulance to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt, according to the sheriff’s dept. An investigation is ongoing.
Around 7 a.m., deputies were sent to the 32000 block of 61st for the report of a rollover accident. A 2012 white Nissan was northbound on that road and lost control.
It entered the east ditch and rolled several times before coming to rest against a tree in the yard of a home.
Ark City police and the Kansas Highway Patrol assisted at the scene.
