Ryan Marshall will serve as interim appraiser for Cowley County through the first of next year, county administrator Lucas Goff said this week.

He replaces Lori Reedy, who passed away unexpectedly earlier this month. State statute governs how county’s must fill appraiser vacancies.

At their meeting last week, county commissioners approved a motion to notify the state of Kansas of separation of service for the county appraiser position. A resolution was then approved to name Marshall as interim appraiser.

Marshall is a Registered Mass Appraiser and has been employed with the county since July of 2022.

“The board of county commissioners will be reviewing what actions they will take for the permanent position after the first of the year,” Goff said in an email response to questions from Cowley Post.
