Missouri man arrested for DUI after Summit accident that damaged pole

A Missouri man was arrested early Friday morning following an accident in Ark City that damaged a power pole.

Around 3:20 a.m., Ark City police were dispatched to the 1400 block of N. Summit for the report of a motor vehicle accident. A pickup truck pulling a small boat had struck a pole in front of Scooter’s Coffee.

65-year-old Jeffrey Scott Brown, Moberly, Mo., was walking near the vehicle when officers arrived. Ark City Fire was dispatched to the scene to address any potential safety concerns related to the damaged pole and vehicle, both of which sustained significant damage.

Subsequent investigation led to Brown’s arrest on charges of DUI and transporting an open container. He was booked into the Cowley County Jail just after 6 a.m. and remained there at the time of this report.

Bond was set at $750.

Evergy was on scene to repair the pole and ensure that it was straightened and standing securely.
