Arkansas City Police responded to an injury accident Monday morning at the intersection of Cedar and Summit streets.
Just after 7 a.m., according to initial information, a single vehicle was traveling northbound in the 500 block of North Summit Street when it left the roadway on the left side and rolled. The vehicle struck a fire hydrant, causing damage, and came to rest near the intersection.
The driver was evaluated at the scene by Arkansas City Fire/EMS and transported to SCK Health for further evaluation. The driver was later discharged.
The vehicle was identified as a black Jeep Grand Cherokee. The driver was identified as Noelia Gallegos of Ponca City, Oklahoma. Investigators believe the driver may have fallen asleep, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway.
The incident remains under investigation.
