During the recent City Commission meeting, Arkansas City Police Officer Madison Pickett was recognized for her promotion to Master Police Officer.
According to a news release from the police department Friday morning, MPO Pickett joined the ACPD in December 2018. She graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center on May 10, 2019.
For the past four years, MPO Pickett has been assigned to a full-time shift and is currently assigned to the night shift.
A minimum of three years of policing experience is required to test for this position, the ACPD said.
“The testing process included a written examination, an oral interview board consisting of four supervisors within the department, and an interview with the police chief,” the news release stated.
MPO Pickett will continue to work in patrol but will participate in field training of newly hired officers.
