A man was found deceased Sunday morning after being pulled from a submerged car in Wellington.

According to a press release from the Wellington Police Department, Ralph Pingry, 42, of Wellington, was the man pulled from the vehicle.

Shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday, Wellington police officers along with Wellington Fire/EMS responded to the westside of Woods Park, located in the 1100 block West 4th Street, regarding a vehicle being submerged in Slate Creek.

A Wellington citizen had alerted Sumner E911.

Upon arrival, EMS personnel entered the water and subsequently removed Pingry from the vehicle.

Once on shore, it was discovered Pingry was not breathing and later pronounced deceased at the scene.

The car was a black 2014 Ford Mustang and was removed by Strickland Tow Service.

Officers suspect the vehicle was traveling westbound through Woods Park at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, left the roadway striking a metal post and flipped upside down when entering the water.

Wellington Police Chief Tracy Heath says the investigation is ongoing.
