Roger Moon, Winfield Community Leader And Retired SC Theatre Professor, Succumbs To Injuries

Roger Moon, a longtime Winfield community leader and retired theatre professor at Southwestern College, passed away Wednesday due to injuries he suffered Friday.

Moon was on a ladder Friday changing out letters on the marquee of the Marquee Performing Arts in Winfield when an adult on a bicycle accidently ran into the ladder and knocked Moon off it.

Moon was transported to Wesley Hospital in Wichita with skull fracture injuries.

He was 74.

A longtime Winfield community leader suffered a fall Friday and is now in a coma, according to family.

Roger Moon, a retired theatre professor at Southwestern College and board member of the Marquee Performing Arts Center, fell from a ladder in downtown Winfield at the Marquee Friday and fractured his skull. He was transported to Wesley Hospital in Wichita.

Winfield Police Chief Robbie DeLong told KSOK Monday afternoon an adult on a bicycle didn’t see Moon or the ladder and accidently ran into it.

According to the family’s gofundme page, Moon has undergone two craniotomies to relieve pressure on the brain. He is in a coma, but stable in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. A link to his family’s gofundme page can be accessed below:
